I actually started the 小女神 series on a bunch of small cardstock that I brought back with me from Singapore some years ago and never ended up using much. I doodled on a few cards, then decided to leap to A4, which felt kinda scary at first, so really, I maybe should have posted these cards first lol.

Maybe a too little on the nose /laughs. But the first card was done while watching a video of dancers dressed up as fairies from the Dunhuang murals, which is a pretty popular genre of dance in Chinese communities.
Just google Dunhuang dance, and you’ll find a bunch. I really enjoyed this one for instance: https://youtu.be/quuEqzXu9pY

I’m not sure that this really belongs in the series, but I’m tagging it as such for now, and it would be fun to do more of these mural-inspired art too 🙂
I don’t think people who aren’t into chinese culture have really heard of these murals, even though they’re famous within the sinosphere, interestingly enough. But I guess that’s true for a lot of things that are famous within the culture and not outside of it!
Like Jay Chou. XD Still blows my mind a bit that he’s literally the grand king of C-pop, and nobody outside of Asia seems to have heard of him. But everyone’s heard of Lady Gaga.
